Patrol
Patrolling Venus
Bay
The club patrols
from the last week in November through to the Easter period in April.
These patrols are carried out voluntary on the weekends to ensure the
safety of the bathing public at Venus Bay. Professional lifeguards
are employed to safeguard Venus Bay beach during the weekdays of the January
period.

The Club has provided a continuous
patrolled presence since 1961. The varied sea conditions provide
many challenges to our beach patrols. It is not uncommon for club
members, during patrol and non-patrol periods, to be called to assist
boats and patrons in distress at beaches 4 and 5 in Venus Bay, Anderson's
Inlet, and Tarwin River.

The Club provides beach patrols
by rostering Active members into patrol teams. These teams are put
on a roster which involves attendance at the beach for a weekend at varying
frequency depending on the Club's Active membership strength. Active
members comprise of members aged 15 years onwards. Active members
aged 15 to 30 are compelled to attend patrols and gain the appropriate
surf lifesaving award for their age.
A member's function
within a patrol can vary depending on their qualifications and can include
first aid, rescue boat crewing, radio room operation as well as general
functions such as foot and four wheel drive patrols.
