Kimmy's Carnival News

OK guys here is some info:

1) I need people to look at the summer events carnival and email me which events they are intersted in going to so we can get competition teams together. I have attatched the new calendar. Please ignore the one I sent you in previous email.

2) Shortly the 2005/2006 lifesaving diary will be available. It runs for 13 months (Oct 05-Oct 06). We need to encourage members to purchase this which contains important dates for the upcoming season and beyond. Diaries are $9.90. Contact LSV for an order form or to purchase the diary.

3) I am interested in running an open day at the club either prior and/or during the season to attract new members. I need a list of people who would be interested in helping with this occassion. We are hoping to get a radio station in to broadcast live from the club....(hoping). Would need people to talk about lifesaving, nippers, competition etc etc. Would need people to help set up and could look at running a sausage sizzle. This is just an idea but I need to know whether members are interested. Could have powepoint
presentations playing and different displays.

Could you please raise that idea at the next committee meeting. SO if they are interested I could start preparing ASAP. I would be heappy to co-ordinate with a team of others. Also do you have many people on your mailing list for the update? I would like to raise this at the actives meeting also.

4) Keep promoting the website and getting people to send russ info so he can keep updating it

That is all for now. I will keep you posted

Australian Pool Life Saving Championships

Russell & Kimberley Stewart and Courtney Steunenberg recently returned from The Australian Pool Lifesaving Championships held in Brisbane. Selected to represent Victoria, they were the 3 country representatives securing a place on the 20 member State team. After four days of competition, Victoria finished third to New South Wales and Western Australia. Kimberley won bronze in the 200 metre freestyle swim with obstacles, and then joined with Russell to win bronze in the 4 x 25 metre mixed manikin tow and rescue relay. Kimberley finished in the top 8 of the open female age group. The national event conducted annually by Royal Life Saving determines the competitor’s ability in lifesaving with events including manikin tow, rescue, line throw, obstacle relay, CPR and initiative scenarios. Russell and Kimberley would like to make special mention and thank the Latrobe City for the funding, used to help offset training and travel expenses.
