Club Newsletter - 'The Blabber'2007– 2008 Season Issue 1- September 2007 Victorian IRB TitlesCongratulations to the Venus Bay IRB team on their recent success at the Victorian IRB Titles. Highlights included
Australian IRB TitlesThe Australian IRB Titles were held on the weekend at South West Rocks in NSW in warm, sunny conditions. 36 east coast, and 1 SA club, attended the event, with over 500 competitors, and more than 100 officials, participating. Venus Bay entered 2 female and 2 male teams. The 12 competitors were; Kristie Clappison For 6 of these competitors it was their first season of IRB racing, and their first Australian Titles. The team was supported by 4 other club members; Amy Dortmans Venus Bay teams managed to make 6 semi finals, and 2 finals. In the finals, we placed 6th in the Male Teams Rescue, and 7th in the Male Surf Rescue. The one point we were awarded for our 6th place in the Male Teams Rescue meant that Venus Bay came 13th in Australia! (there are 305 clubs in total in Australia). Results of the IRB carnivals that were held at Lorne 24/6/07: Saturday Results Open Water Swimming ChampionshipsThe following club members performed water safety for the Victorian State Open Water Championships held at Hazelwood pondage recently: Erin Stafferton, Sarah Dalton, Elliot Amalos, Simon Gee and Dom Van TIel..
